DIRTY DISHES IN CHISLEHURST

Deep Blue Chislehurst

Top table: Deep Blue gets a deep clean

Planning to to eat out or grab a takeaway in Chislehurst? Then read this first.

It’s a list of restaurants, cafes, pubs and takeaways ranked by how clean they are, based on hygiene inspections carried out by Bromley Council.

It reveals a few pleasant and not-so pleasant surprises about the state of some of our favourite eateries.

Topping the table as the cleanest establishment in Chislehurst is the Deep Blue fish & chip shop on the High Street. It’s the only place in Chislehurst to receive the full five stars for hygiene.

There’s a good crop of popular Chislehurst eateries with four stars including Dennys seafood restaurant, the Mountain View Indian restaurant plus a number of popular pubs.

Dalchini Chislehurst

Dalchini languishes at bottom

At the other end of the table there are a few surprises. The Bickley receives only one star, rated poor for compliance with statutory hygiene obligations. It was last inspected in January 2010 so let’s hope that it has addressed the problems as part of its recent refurbishment.

The Indian restaurant Dalchini located near Chislehurst Caves languishes at the bottom of the table by failing to comply with a number of statutory requirements. It was last inspected in March 2010.

Great fish and chips at Deep Blue Chislehurst. Shame I won’t be eating here any more! Just had to walk out after a member of staff lost my change. Maybe in his deep blue pockets? Then the manager accused me of stealing the £1.25 change from an £18.75 order, in front of other customers. I had paid with a £20 note and had no change or receipt on me at all so I knew I was right. The manager there was agressive and insulting, then she threatened to call the police. We said that would be a great idea, but for some reason she backed down and gave me a full refund?!? Go figure! Such a disappointment, as the food there was really good. I hope their head office can act accordingly? Just watch out that your pennies don’t disappear into the deep, if you eat there any time soon!

A few surprises! And some of the most expensive are very poor.

  3. Having seen your recent tweet it gave me the impression that the Deep Blue was poor as far as hygiene. Phew, on further reading I can see its top notch on hygiene but needs some attention to customer service. Speaking of customer service, I found Mouhtain View excellent.
